Welcome to Mystery Crime Blog
In 1998, if someone had told me I would be spending the next eight years of my life involved in injustice, I would have said "You are stark raving mad!". Well, I am here to eat those words.
In 1997, a friend was telling me about twin sisters, Betty Wilson and Peggy Lowe, from Alabama who were arrested and tried for supposedly hiring an alcoholic, drug addict con-man, James Dennison White, to kill Betty's wealthy husband, Dr. Jack Wilson, who was a very well-liked and well-known eye doctor in Huntsville. Both sisters were tried on the same evidence and lying testimony. Betty was convicted and sentenced to life in prison with no chance of parole because she was a rich bitch and slept with a black man in Alabama. Peggy, the saintly one, was acquitted. The convicted con-man, who never really admitted to killing the doctor, has come up for parole several times but is still incarcerated.
After spending six years studying this case including both trial transcripts, putting up an extensive website (http://hankford.com/bettywilson) and spending the remaining two years putting together a book about this case Killer For Hire - The Final Chapter of the Alabama Twins Murder Case, I, as many others, believe that the real killer of the doctor is walking around free. Neither of the twin sisters had a motive to have the good doctor put away but the doctor's ex-wife and son did.
As time permits, I hope to present other similar cases of injustice along with information on books, movies, TV shows, video games, etc., related to mystery crime. In the meantime please visit http://mysterycrimescene.com/.

German Innocent in Prison Project
Sunday, May 30, 2010
The organization is Innocent in Prison Project International located in Germany. IPPI’s website describes itself as “a medium, which supports errors of justice awareness. Errors of justice concern anyone. When innocent individuals are imprisoned, the guilty ones are at large and may commit more crimes. IIPPI illustrates cases of possibly false or wrongful convictions. Public documents, audio and video files enrich this website beyond detailed analysis. IIPPI has been an informative and inspiring source to students, journalists, governmental officials, activists and others since 2004.”
IIPPI does not provide legal representation. What they do is establish a webpage and forum for the inmate. For them to do this, you are required to complete a twelve page questionnaire plus provide them with the following:
1. Arrest Warrant
2. Investigative Reports (Police Reports, Medical Reports, Witness Statements)
3. Indictment
4. Plea Agreement (if any was offered)
5. Opening and Closing Argument from Trial
6. Sentence and Judgment Sheet.
These are the documents they have to look at first, then the remainder of the Trial Transcripts. They say if you don’t have all of these documents, do not contact them because they do not have the time, man-power or access to obtain your legal records.
Their website has web pages and forums for thirty-seven inmates in approximately fifteen states with the inmates claiming innocence from drug trafficking to capital murder and sentences ranging from thirty years to death. The web pages and forums are professionally done.
I can see how using all this information provided by an inmate would be “an informative and inspiring source to students, journalists, governmental officials, activists, etc. and perhaps it has helped some of the inmates towards obtaining their freedom.

Betty Wilson Lawyer Scam - Part II
Saturday, May 29, 2010
I received a call from a detective at the North Royalton Ohio PD. It seems that Barton has previously been arrested for driving under the influence and drug possession. He also has some kind of trucking business and lives in the basement of a funeral home. At the time of the call, the detective had not been able to contact Barton, but apparently he finally did, because I received an email from Barton that he had been contacted by a detective and reassured me he was a "legitimate person and business" and that the $25,000 finder fee offer was still good. He made this second offer even after I told him he would have to write to Betty Wilson and what she would probably say to him wouldn't be very nice. Go figure!
The Ohio State Bar said they could do nothing without the name of a law firm but were interested in Barton's contact information.
Haven't heard from the Ohio Attorney General's Office.
What is sad about this whole situation is that the TV program apparently lead Barton to believe that Betty Wilson had inherited six million dollars. She did inherit some stocks and bonds and real estate property but now she doesn't have a pot to piss in.

Preston Hughes III - Innocent on Texas Death Row
Monday, May 10, 2010
The bottom-line, Preston received a trial in a Kangaroo Court with the main characters being the judge, the lab analyst, the prosecutor and the defense lawyer along with various sergeants at the HPD. There was not one witness or one shred of evidence tying Preston to the 1988 stabbing deaths of Shandra Charles and Marcell Taylor.
The page is at http://mysterycrimescene.com/preston-hughes-time-recap.html. I will be adding crime scene photos soon. These are not for the weak hearted or those with a squeeze stomach.
