Welcome to Mystery Crime Blog

In 1998, if someone had told me I would be spending the next eight years of my life involved in injustice, I would have said "You are stark raving mad!". Well, I am here to eat those words.

In 1997, a friend was telling me about twin sisters, Betty Wilson and Peggy Lowe, from Alabama who were arrested and tried for supposedly hiring an alcoholic, drug addict con-man, James Dennison White, to kill Betty's wealthy husband, Dr. Jack Wilson, who was a very well-liked and well-known eye doctor in Huntsville. Both sisters were tried on the same evidence and lying testimony. Betty was convicted and sentenced to life in prison with no chance of parole because she was a rich bitch and slept with a black man in Alabama. Peggy, the saintly one, was acquitted. The convicted con-man, who never really admitted to killing the doctor, has come up for parole several times but is still incarcerated.

After spending six years studying this case including both trial transcripts, putting up an extensive website (http://hankford.com/bettywilson) and spending the remaining two years putting together a book about this case Killer For Hire - The Final Chapter of the Alabama Twins Murder Case, I, as many others, believe that the real killer of the doctor is walking around free. Neither of the twin sisters had a motive to have the good doctor put away but the doctor's ex-wife and son did.

As time permits, I hope to present other similar cases of injustice along with information on books, movies, TV shows, video games, etc., related to mystery crime. In the meantime please visit http://mysterycrimescene.com/.

Blue Screen of Death (BSOD)

Saturday, August 13, 2011

A few months ago I was having problems with my Mozy backup and another HTML Validator program. I kept getting messages from Mozy that my backup was not completing.  I contacted Mozy support and their solution was “Instead of rebooting you could probably just close out of Office (Word, Excel, Outlook...) and your backup will finish just fine”. Wrong ! When I contacted the vendor for the HTML Validator Program he suggested that the problem might by a malware program. He was right!  When I removed the PC Tools Spyware Doctor program not only did my Mozy backup start backing up as scheduled but my HTML Validator started working properly.

Unfortunately in the last few weeks, I have been receiving the “Blue Screen of Death”. After spending many days of researching the error codes for “Bad Pool Header” and “Page Fault In Non Paged Area”, I discovered that the problem was a file called TFFSMON.SYS. This file was apparently left over from PC Tools Spyware Doctor .  It was located in C:\windows\system32\driver folder. As suggested by someone in my research, I renamed the file tffsmonOLD.sys. There are two other files associated with this problem, tfnetmon.sys and tfsysmon.sys. Just to be safe I renamed these files tfnetmonOLD.sys and tfsysmonOLD.sys. Then I rebooted my computer.  I haven’t had the “Blue Screen of Death” since and my previously very slow computer moves with lightning speed!

One expert had “found that many deleted programs, especially anti-malware programs leave drivers behind that can conflict with all kinds of current programs and slows the boot as well” and found many that were caused by Spyware Doctor. So if you are experiencing the BSOD and a sluggish computer look for left-behind driver files (.SYS).

What Obama Did Not Say

Several days ago,  President Obama stated that he could not guarantee that Social Security checks would be mailed on August 3 if the debt ceiling was not raised. HE ALSO THREATENED THE MILITARY RETIREMENT PENSIONS?  I wonder if I am the only person interested in what he did not say!

Here’s what he did not say…….

“I will not be able to get my monthly check for $33,333.33, Vice-President Biden will not get his check for $19,225.00, and, oh by the way, Michelle will be happy to give up a vacation until we get this mess straightened out.

Congress will not be able to get their checks which average $14,500.00 per member. My Czars will not be able to receive their checks, some of which receive $14,350.00 per month and others receive $13,208.33 a month.

My cabinet members will not receive their $15,941.66 monthly check. Their Deputy Secretaries will not be able to receive their $14,350.00 monthly check. Their Under Secretaries will not be able to receive their $13,208.33 monthly check. Their Assistant Secretaries, general counsels, and heads of minor departments will not be able to receive their $12,416.66 monthly check. My various administrators, board members, commissioners, and others will not be able to get their $11,633.33 monthly check.

The Supreme Court will not be able to receive their $17,341.66 monthly check. The U.S. Appeals Court and Appeals Judges for the Armed Forces will not be able to receive their $14,591.66 monthly check. The U.S. District Court, Claims Court, International Trade Court, and U.S. Tax Court Judges will not be able to receive their $13,766.66 monthly check. And the Bankruptcy and Magistrate Judges will not be able to get their $12,665.33 monthly check.

The gaggle of Washington TSA bureaucrats will not receive their $8,750.00 monthly checks. The tens of thousands of other paper shufflers who are pigeon holed in various offices in Washington will not receive their checks which average more than $8,333.33 a month”

What I heard coming from the lips of the President was that the only folks that should be concerned were people receiving Social Security checks. Isn't it ironic that the only people he feels that he cannot assure with any degree of certainty that they will get their checks are the ones who need the money the most? The national average for all Social Security beneficiaries is $1,079.00 monthly, which totals a whopping $12,948.00 yearly; the money coming from a fund that most have paid into their entire working lives. Or put another way, the average Social Security recipient gets a check each month that equals about 3% of what the President receives each month and in theory, they are getting back their own money.

Never mind that the United States Constitution requires the President to pay Principal and Interest on the National Debt and then Federal Pensions before any other funds can be obligated. It is a foregone conclusion that Mr. Obama missed his constitutional law classes at Harvard.

The mere fact that this President - any President - would threaten in any "thinly veiled" manner that the elderly would not get their pension checks is about as contemptible and fear mongering an effort as any elected official could use for expediency. This is outrageous even for this chronic avoider of the truth!

All seniors should reward this Prince of Politics in November 2012 in like manner for his obvious lack of respect for our welfare, physical and mental, and his attempt to manipulate the debt ceiling discussion using senior citizens as pawns.
